Applied Biosystems signs co-development deal with Olink Bioscience
Applied Biosystems yesterday announced the signing of an exclusive collaboration and license agreement with Olink Bioscience.
The deal will result in the commercialisation of Olink’s proximity ligation assay (PLA) technology as Applied Biosystems will co-develop the equipment for applications in the science research market such as characterisation of complex biological processes, reports the firm.
According to the company, the PLA method can also be used for in situ applications for direct detection in tissues or cells.
Peter Dansky, president of Applied Biosystems’ molecular and cell biology consumables division, stated that the collaboration sees the combination of easy-to-use Taqman workflow with sensitive PLA technology to correlate protein quantitation and gene expression on the same platform.
"We believe this unique combination will accelerate our customers’ investigation of complex biology and better enable the study of gene expression and regulation at the protein level," he added.
Last month, Applied Biosystems announced the launch of the Validation Support & Training Programme, a new service for forensic DNA laboratories
