Applied Biosystems unveils tools for mass spectrometry

24th July 2009

Applied Biosystems, part of Life Technologies, has announced a new range of solutions for use in the clinical research field.

Developed in collaboration with Chromsystems Instruments and Chemicals, the new solutions are designed to simplify mass spectrometry technology in applications such as those used in therapeutic drug monitoring.

It is hoped that researchers will be able to broaden the use of mass spectrometry in their work as a result of the combination of Applied Biosystems’ software and Chromsystem’s reagents and controls.

Adoption of new tests relating to areas such as amino acids, neuroleptics and antidepressants will be accelerated, the companies claim.

Laura Lauman, president of Life Technologies’ mass spectrometry systems division, said the company is responding to growing demand for integrated and simplified mass spectrometry solutions to enhance medical studies.

Earlier this month, Applied Biosystems launched its TaqMan real-time PCR assays to help researchers quantify proteins in human cell samples.
