Astellas offers donation for Chinese earthquake victims
Astellas has committed to making a financial contribution in order to assist earthquake relief efforts in China.
The pharmaceutical company is to make a donation of around ten million yen (70,400 pounds) to support those affected by the incident, which took place in Chinghai on April 14th 2010.
Of this total, around seven million yen will be donated by the company’s local subsidiary Astellas Pharma China to the Red Cross Society of China.
The remaining three million yen will be offered to the Japanese Red Cross Society via the firm’s Tokyo-based central headquarters.
It said: “Astellas expresses its deepest sympathy for victims of the China Chinghai earthquake and our thoughts are with those personally affected by the tragedy.”
Earlier this month, Astellas marked the fifth anniversary of the company’s foundation and took the opportunity to outline its future plans for business growth, which include a new focus on oncology in Europe.
