Astellas signs new outsourcing agreement with Accenture
Astellas has announced a new outsourcing agreement with multinational consultancy group Accenture, coming as part of its wider efforts to enhance business efficiency.
The business process outsourcing deal will pertain to multiple areas of Astellas and its subsidiaries in its native Japan and has been agreed as a response to changing business conditions and a need to pursue sustainable growth.
A statement from the company said: "By working with a specialist external partner, Astellas aims to obtain high-quality services and promote efficiency, while allocating resources to businesses that contribute to the company's competitive advantage."
Astellas' three main corporate goals at present are to maximise the value of its new products, enhance its ability to generate innovative drugs and achieve operational excellence.
The company previously announced that it will be restructuring its research and development capabilities and has formed a new innovation management unit, while an early retirement incentive programme for 300 employees was also confirmed last week.
Currently, Astellas employs more than 17,000 people worldwide and is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.
