Astra Tech HealthCare changes name to Wellspect HealthCare

Astra Tech HealthCare has been rebranded as Wellspect HealthCare, with the new name set to appear across its product range over the coming months.

The name change came into effect on August 31st 2012 and follows on from Dentsply's acquisition of the medical device company, which specialises in urology and surgery products, reports Chemist and Druggist.

Following the rebranding, Wellspect HealthCare offered assurances that this change will not affect any aspect of product quality, nor will it result in any immediate alteration to the company's product portfolio.

Group president Svenn Poulsen said: "Changing the name represents a renewed focus and a strong commitment to our strategy and the business model that we have built over the years."

Wellspect's product range includes LoFric, which has become the most widely used hydrophilic catheter for intermittent catheterisation in the world since its launch in 1983.

The acquisition of Astra Tech from former parent company AstraZeneca was completed by Dentsply in August 2011.
