Astra Tech launches new anatomically-designed implant

4th March 2011

Astra Tech has announced the launch of a uniquely shaped dental implant for patients with sloped alveolar ridges.

The OsseoSpeed TX Profile implant is anatomically designed and incorporates all of the benefits of the Astra Tech BioManagement Complex with a specifically optimised shape.

It allows for an optimum implant position that removes the need to compromise between marginal bone support maintenance and esthetics, thus meeting a key clinical need.

Professor Dr Wilfried Wagner of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz explained: "The sloped design lets the implant adapt to the anatomy rather than letting the anatomy adapt to the implant design."

According to the manufacturer, the sloped neck of the implant means that it is recommended for use among dental practitioners who have extensive experience and knowledge of implant treatment.

Earlier this month, Astra Tech announced a collaboration with 3Shape to create new software for the creation of dental implant abutments.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800443602-ADNFCR
