AstraZeneca expands Cheshire BioHub

2nd October 2013

AstraZeneca has announced an expansion to its BioHub facility in Alderley Park, Cheshire.

Six organisations – Gentronix, Cyprotex Discovery, Bionow, OncoTherics, Integral Finance and The Research Network – will be moving to the site, which was established as a collaborative research and development centre for bioscience businesses.

Clive Morris, AstraZeneca UK strategic implementation lead, commented: “Along with our existing tenants these companies add to the richness of the bioscience expertise located at Alderley Park and will play a role in securing longer term investment and employment opportunities.”

The BioHub was launched by AstraZeneca in May and RedX Anti-Infectives, Blueberry Therapeutics and Imagen Biotech are already based at the facility.

It was created to allow pharmaceutical and life science firms to enjoy the benefits of Alderley Park’s world-class facilities.

A special taskforce comprised of local government, the University of Manchester, the Local Enterprise Partnership and AstraZeneca has been formed to ensure the site remains an important part of the local economy when the latter moves its research and development facilities to Cambridge in 2016.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801644763-ADNFCR
