B Braun Medical continues UK expansion

B Braun Medical’s development within the UK has continued with the opening of four new kidney dialysis units.

The facilities, which will be handled by B Braun Avitum UK and the NHS, have been established in England and Wales.

They bring the firm’s total number of such units to 11 and have been set up in Cardiff, Taunton, Yeovil and Frome.

Frome patients can now have their dialysis without having to go hundreds of miles for it.

Chris Clark, managing director of B Braun Avitum, said that partnerships with local trusts “have enabled us to improve the quality of life for hundreds of kidney patients across the UK and our continued expansion will mean more and more people receiving the treatments they need”.

Susan Furber, operations director of B Braun Avitum UK, said the company was “delighted” to build on its partnership with the University Hospital of Wales, with whom it has had a relationship since 1989.

The B Braun Group includes B Braun Medical and has a workforce more than 28,000 globally.

It produces items for hospitals and professionals in healthcare such as surgical instruments and works with organisations such as universities and hospitals.
