Bausch and Lomb appoints vision care executive

11th March 2010

Bausch and Lomb has selected Dr Robert Steffen as its new director of clinical affairs for its vision care unit.

Dr Steffen has been employed by the company since 2007 as director of surgical product analysis, while he has also spent 11 years employed by the Johnson and Johnson vision care subsidiary Vistakon.

In his new position for Bausch and Lomb, the executive will provide clinical support for the development of new products.

Joseph Barr, vice-president of global, clinical and medical affairs and professional services for Bausch and Lomb Vision Care, said he is “thrilled” to welcome Dr Steffen to the team.

He added: “His track record of innovation in the contact lens field, process improvement expertise with Bausch and Lomb research and development, rigour in clinical visual science and enthusiasm inspire his colleagues.”

Last month, Bausch and Lomb launched two new additions to its Storz Ophthalmic single-use instrumentation range, which are optimised for safety and ease of use.
