Bausch and Lomb completes joint venture

1st May 2009

Bausch & Lomb has completed the transaction with 20/10 Perfect Vision to create the company Technolas Perfect Vision.

Combining the refractive eye surgery assets of both companies, the venture will introduce new laser-based vision correction procedures.

Namely, it will target the presbyopia market to provide clinicians with technology intended to restore near sight in patients who can no longer visually accommodate.

Having already received the CE Mark for managing presbyopic hyperopes, Intracor is one of the business’ “most exciting new procedures” and studies are underway to examine its full potential.

Kristian Hohla, chief executive of Technolas Perfect Vision, commented on the new developments.

He said: “These are breakthrough technologies, with the potential to transform the lifestyle of presbyopia sufferers and providing clinicians with a wonderful opportunity to attract new patients to their refractive practices.”

Earlier this week, Bausch & Lomb published a short film on YouTube to support the launch of its ReNyu MultiPlus solution for contact wearers with sensitive eyes.

In Europe, the product comes in a translucent bottle, which includes a marker to indicate to users when the liquid is running low.
