Bausch and Lomb elects new corporate vice-president
Bausch & Lomb has announced its board of directors has elected Susan Roberts as the company’s corporate vice-president.
She is currently the organisation’s chief compliance officer, having been appointed in 2006.
Prior to joining Bausch & Lomb in 1995, Ms Roberts was a trial lawyer at Harter, Secrest & Emery.
Last month, Bausch & Lomb’s Renu with MoistureLoc solution was critised in a report in the November issue of Archives and Opthalmology.
The product, which contains an antimicrobial agent not found in other solutions, was implicated in the Fusarium keratitis eye infection epidemic that occurred between 2004 and 2006.
November’s issue of Archives of Opthalmology also adds that prolonged temperature elevation reduces antifungal activity of the contact lens solution.
As a result of the outbreak, 154 confirmed cases of the infection were identified in the US, with inadequate temperature control in the solution’s production, storage and transport blamed.
Founded in 1853, Bausch & Lomb is based in New York, US and employs approximately 13,000 people around the world, with products available in more than 100 countries.
The company specialises in soft and rigid gas permeable contact lenses, lens care products and ophthalmic surgical and pharmaceutical products.
