Bausch and Lomb launches Crystalens iPhone application

11th January 2011

Bausch and Lomb has released an application for the Apple iPhone to promote its accommodating intraocular lens Crystalens.

The Crystalens iClear software is being distributed for free via the iPhone App Store and is designed to educate consumers on cataracts, as well as allowing them to evaluate their own visual acuity and colour vision.

It comes as part of a wider marketing push for the Crystalens product, which is designed to give patients a more natural range of vision in addition to eliminating their cataracts.

Amy Jacobs, director of global marketing for Crystalens at Bausch and Lomb, said it is pursuing this strategy based on the growing prominence of mobile phones as a source of information.

"This is another step Bausch and Lomb has taken in promoting the Crystalens to consumers so that they can learn both about their vision and some options to improve their eyesight," she added.

Last month, Bausch and Lomb appointed Rick Heinick as its new corporate vice-president for global human resources and transformation, a post he took up on January 4th 2011.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800335790-ADNFCR
