Bausch and Lomb launches enVista Toric IOL in Europe

11th September 2012

Bausch and Lomb has announced the European market debut of its new enVista Toric intraocular lens (IOL), after receiving CE Mark approval for the device in April 2012.

The product is the manufacturer's first hydrophobic acrylic IOL for astigmatism correction and features a unique haptic design to deliver superior rotational stability compared to other lenses.

Its design allows it to secure a predictable astigmatism correction and minimise posterior capsular opacification, while its glistening-free hydrophobic acrylic composition delivers further patient outcome improvements.

The IOL is being introduced this week at the 2012 Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in Milan.

Dr Cal Roberts, executive vice-president and chief medical officer at Bausch and Lomb, said: "The addition of this new lens to our portfolio means that Bausch and Lomb now offers surgeons a more complete range of IOLs to meet their patients' needs."

Earlier this year, the company expanded its operational capabilities further through the acquisition of Ista Pharmaceuticals, a deal which will broaden its range of offerings in the ophthalmology field.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801446925-ADNFCR
