Bausch and Lomb launches new vitreoretinal forceps

3rd September 2010

Bausch and Lomb has launched a new set of surgical forceps designed to provide safety and ergonomic benefits to professionals conducting vitreoretinal procedures.

The new single-use peeling forceps feature an asymmetric jaw design to provide optimal visualisation of retinal membranes, with the device designed for application in procedures such as epiretinal membrane peel, macular puckers and cellophane maculopathy.

Among the key features of forceps is its ergonomic handle, based on Bausch and Lomb Storz Ophthalmics' reusable design principle, while they are also designed to be more robust than other products of this kind.

The manufacturer said: "The balanced, single-use design provides optimal feel and control for customers concerned about the fragile nature of reusable retinal instrument options."

Bausch and Lomb will release the forceps in 23 and 25-gauge options to provide facilities with maximum flexibility and convenience.

Last month, Bausch and Lomb announced the launch of its Stellaris PC Vision Enhancement System, which allows vitreoretinal and cataract surgery to be managed using a single platform.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800050720-ADNFCR
