Bausch and Lomb launches vision enhancement system for surgeons

Bausch and Lomb has introduced a new vision enhancement system designed to allow surgeons to perform ophthalmic surgery in a more efficient and cost-effective way.

The Stellaris PC (Procedural Choice) system has launched worldwide as a replacement for the Millennium Microsurgical system, offering combined vitrectomy and phacoemulsification functions.

It is optimised to offer intuitive performance and enhances the surgeon’s ability to see ocular tissue in various conditions, as well as allowing small incisions to be made in a safe and secure manner.

Russ Finlay, global marketing director of Bausch and Lomb’s vitreoretinal business, said the system has been designed with feedback from surgeons in mind.

He added: “The Stellaris is an advanced, versatile and unique product that will help retinal and cataract surgeons around the world in their efforts to achieve improved patient care and clinical efficiency.”

Earlier this year, Bausch and Lomb strengthened its global surgical business unit with the appointment of Robert Grant as its president and chief executive officer.
