Bausch and Lomb showcases new contact lens offerings

16th June 2011

Bausch and Lomb is showcasing a number of new innovations in the field of soft contact lenses at the American Optometric Association's annual meeting.

During the event in Salt Lake City this week, the company is demonstrating the benefits of Biotrue, its bio-inspired contact lens which utilises a natural lubricant called hyaluronan to help lenses stay clean and moist.

It will also be spotlighting its ultra-thin PureVision 2 HD lenses, which incorporate precision optics that provide clear vision in low light and minimise glare and halos.

The new products are being showcased by Bausch and Lomb in the same month that the firm marks the 40th anniversary of its introduction of the first ever soft contact lens to the market.

Dr Calvin Roberts, chief medical officer at Bausch and Lomb, said: "By making contact lens wear so much more comfortable, Bausch and Lomb's soft contact lenses made glasses-free vision available to so many more patients."

Earlier this year, the company broadened its range further by agreeing a global licensing deal for the UK-based company UltraVision CLPL's KeraSoft range.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800581702-ADNFCR
