Bausch and Lomb study reveals vision care consumer priorities

26th January 2011

Bausch and Lomb has commissioned a new study which shows that consumers prioritise vision improvements as the most important consideration when purchasing eye care products.

The international Needs, Symptoms, Incidence, Global Eye Health Trends (NSIGHT) survey, which involved 3,800 glasses and contact lens-wearers from seven nations, ranked eight potential features for consumer vision care products.

Benefits to eyesight were highlighted as the area of highest priority for users, above health, environmental and eye condition attributes.

Conversely, aspects relating to personal convenience – such as comfort, appearance and individual performance – were all ranked as being of lower importance.

Carla Mack, director of global medical affairs for Bausch and Lomb, said: "NSIGHT validated that clear, crisp vision is a top priority for our patients."

Earlier this month, the firm launched a consumer-focused application for the Apple iPhone which provides users with information on cataracts, as well as raising awareness of Bausch and Lomb's Crystalens accommodating intraocular lens.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800366440-ADNFCR
