Bausch and Lomb ‘to move its operations to two sites’
Bausch and Lomb ? a firm specialising in eye healthcare ? has announced that it will strengthen its contact lens operations by relocating its sites.
It is planning to house its manufacturing processes within two major bases – one in Waterford in Ireland and Rochester, New York.
This means that its production facility in Scotland will be gradually transferred over the next two years.
The firm revealed that it is about to enter into a 90-day consultation regarding the move with its current employees at the location.
Gerald Ostrov, chairman and chief executive of Bausch and Lomb, explained: “Considering our growth plans in the coming years, we believe it’s better to focus our resources and attention on just two primary contact lens plants, freeing cash for reinvestment into the business.”
In other Bausch and Lomb news, the company received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the marketing of its Crystalens HD product in July.
