Bausch and Lomb’s Victus platform receives new CE Mark approvals

4th April 2013

Bausch and Lomb has announced that its Victus femtosecond laser platform has been granted European regulatory approval for three new indications.

The device has been granted CE Mark accreditation for use in the creation of corneal incisions in patients undergoing cataract surgery, allowing virtually blade-free cataract surgery to be carried out using the machine.

Additionally, CE Mark approval has also been granted for Victus to be used for penetrating keratoplasty procedures and the creation of intrastromal channel incisions for intracorneal ring segments.

It means that the device is now approved in Europe for all critical steps of laser-assisted cataract surgery.

Dr Kristian Hohla, president of Bausch and Lomb Technolas, said: "With these additional CE approvals … Bausch and Lomb now offers the most versatile femtosecond laser system for cataract and refractive surgery in the European Union."

This comes after the device received US approval for arcurate incision procedures earlier this year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801566840-ADNFCR
