Baxter allies with Tel Aviv University to create new surgical innovations

19th July 2017

Baxter has announced a new technology collaboration with Tel Aviv University's Ramot business engagement centre and Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center.

The company has formed new licensing agreements – including global joint research efforts to evaluate multiple technologies currently under development at the university – to bring early-stage research to the commercialisation phase.

The goal will be to bring the latest innovations in surgical care to market, with Baxter set to exclusively license technology from the university's Technology Innovation Momentum Fund for use in multiple potential applications.

Surgical care represents a core strategic growth pillar for Baxter, which expects that the projects encompassed by this collaboration will have the potential to complement its existing product offering and provide access to novel treatments.

Wil Boren, president of advanced surgery at Baxter, said this collaboration will provide the company with "access to promising early-stage research that could have a meaningful impact for surgeons looking for new tools to treat complex cases".
