Baxter and Novation agree medication delivery contract

11th October 2007

Baxter International and Novation, the University HealthSystem Consortium’s (UHC) contracting services company, have agreed a two-year contract extension which will allow UHC members to have continued access to Baxter’s products.

The $200 million (100 million pound) contract extension will see the majority of academic hospitals in the US receive Baxter’s broad portfolio of intravenous (IV) solutions, drug delivery products, nutrition products, IV administration sets and components and infusion pumps.

David Bonderud, president of the US region of Baxter’s medication delivery business, expressed his delight over the signing of the contract extension.

“The new contract reflects our ongoing commitment to UHC to deliver value with our broad portfolio of medication delivery products.”

The contract extension will come into force following the conclusion of UHC’s previous multi-year agreement in mid-2008.

In addition to the contract agreement, Baxter received an extended single source award for its IV solutions and upholds an earlier established multi-source award for infusion pumps and sets.

Last month, Baxter International was named the 2007 Medical Products Industry Leader of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, marking the sixth time it has topped the index since its conception in 1999.
