Baxter Healthcare opens homecare pharmacy distribution centre in Manchester

13th February 2018

Baxter Healthcare has opened a homecare pharmacy distribution centre in Cheadle, Manchester, which it said will help to serve the needs of patients in the north of England.

The 12,000 sq ft site is part of the company's work with the NHS to ensure that, in appropriate cases, patients are able to manage their care at home.

It will mainly provide home therapies associated with nutrition and antibiotics, as well as various products and services for rheumatoid arthritis, thalassemia and immunoglobulin treatment.

Andy Goldney, Baxter's general manager for the UK, Ireland and Nordic regions, said: "The new facility will increase our capability and capacity to provide life-sustaining intravenous products to patients in the north of England who may require treatment for a few weeks, months or even years ahead."

The company said its commitment to the north-west will also lead to the opening of a new education centre later this year, where patients will be able to learn more about home treatments such as renal dialysis and intravenous nutrition.
