Baxter Healthcare signs distribution deal with Nikkiso

Baxter Healthcare has signed a deal with Nikkiso, which will see it distribute the firm’s haemodialysis machines and other products throughout the UK.

Commenting, David Whitehouse, renal business unit director at Baxter Healthcare, said that the firm is committed to helping patients who have kidney disease to achieve the best outcomes possible.

“As the market leader in the UK for providing home dialysis through peritoneal dialysis products we are delighted that we can now provide a complete and competitive home care renal portfolio in the UK,” he added.

Mr Whitehouse concluded by noting that the firm is in a strong position to provide support to people who choose to undertake their dialysis at home.

Baxter Healthcare said that the incidence of chronic kidney disease is growing at around five per cent, with roughly 25,000 people expected to be receiving renal dialysis treatment by 2011.

Earlier this month, the firm announced that it has acquired Willow Healthcare Services.
