Baxter highlights success of Haiti relief efforts

16th December 2010

Baxter has highlighted the success of its philanthropic work in Haiti, where it recently contributed to efforts to relieve a cholera outbreak.

In association with global humanitarian aid organisations, the pharmaceutical company has been supplying intravenous solutions such as lactated ringers and dextrose, as well as accompanying equipment, in support of those affected by waterborne bacteria.

It comes after the firm was involved in the provision of healthcare products and support at the beginning of 2010 following the earthquake in the Caribbean country.

Robert Parkinson Jr, Baxter's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "Supporting the relief efforts in Haiti is a natural extension of our commitment to making a positive impact on the health of our local and global communities."

This comes in the same year that Baxter was given top spot in the healthcare category of Newsweek magazine's second annual Green Rankings list.

Last month, Baxter announced the acquisition of several assets in the field of haemophilia treatment from the biopharmaceutical company Archemix.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800295217-ADNFCR
