Baxter highlights sustainability benefits of Xenium Plus

17th September 2010

Baxter has outlined the superior environmental and sustainability benefits offered by its new Xenium Plus dialyser unit.

The Xenium Plus – which is currently available in Italy, France and Sweden and will be launched in other territories in 2011 and 2012 – has been designed to provide lower carbon emissions, use fewer natural resources and produce less biohazard waste than older Xenium dialysis devices.

It is 15 per cent lighter than other Baxter devices in the same category – making it more economical to transport – and it utilises one-third less cardboard in its packaging.

In addition, the device's manufacturing materials are free of bisphenol-A and use polypropylene instead of polycarbonate in its casing, enabling further carbon savings.

Baxter said this is indicative of the firm's commitment to environmental concerns, which recently earned the company the title of 2010 Medical Products Industry Leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.

According to the firm's most recent financial report, Baxter experienced business growth in the second quarter of 2010, with net sales growing by two per cent year-on-year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800069896-ADNFCR
