Baxter introduces new design enhancements for Floseal and Tisseel

Baxter has announced the introduction of enhanced new designs for its haemostatic products Floseal and Tisseel at an industry conference.

The company is attending the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Global Surgical Conference and Expo in Boston this week, where it is providing hands-on demonstrations of both products to attendees.

The new version of Floseal is called Floseal Full Sterile Preparation and retains the same indications and formulation, but can be quickly prepared by a single person with fewer steps within a sterile surgical environment, reducing contamination risk.

It has already been launched in Europe, with nurses and surgeons praising the new offering for its simplified and shorter preparation process, greater control of preparation consistency, and capability for independent preparation within the surgical team.

Meanwhile, Tisseel is receiving a new snap lock applicator that helps to locks to the syringe for a more secure attachment, while providing surgeons greater manoeuvrability to position the product where it is needed.

Wil Boren, president of Baxter's advanced surgery business, said: "We are excited to bring customer-inspired enhancements to our leading haemostat and sealant portfolio that surgeons rely on for safe and effective solutions to address intraoperative bleeding."
