Baxter launches first-ever world environment week

1st September 2009

Baxter has announced that its employees across the globe took part in the first-ever Baxter World Environment Week – a coordinated effort to promote the eco-friendly initiatives across the company.

Overall, 70 offices in about 25 countries sponsored events related to the promotion of the environment and encouraged employees to gain greater knowledge about sustainability and the ways in which they can contribute towards this.

The event, which coincided with the UN’s World Environment Day, saw Baxter’s employees in Beijing being handed seeds and plants. A fair was also held in Cuernavaca, Mexico, involving eco-friendly household items, and greener transport incentives were offered to workers in Hoechstadt, Germany.

Baxter has also been named as the overall winner of the joint ITF-CLECAT-FIATA Prize for Innovation in Transport and Logistics along the Global Supply Chain by the International Transport Forum, the European Association for Forwarding Transport and the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations.

In June, the company announced that it had completed the production of its first commercial batches of the CELVAPAN A/H1N1 swine flu vaccine.
