Baxter launches new schemes to further improve sustainability performance
Baxter has announced the launch of a number of new schemes aimed at further improving its acclaimed sustainability performance.
The company recently partnered with graduate students from the University of Wisconsin to assess the carbon footprint of renal dialysis clinics it operates in Colombia. It also allied with the Environmental Defense Fund to work with graduate students to explore opportunities to expand its use of renewable energy, improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
Art Gibson, vice-president of environment, health and safety at Baxter, said: "Baxter has benefited from the fresh perspectives and energetic approach these young scholars bring, and they have helped further our work on environmental sustainability."
Meanwhile, the Baxter International Foundation has provided a grant to the Trevor Project to help provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention among LGBTQ young people, and the firm recently joined United Airlines' CarbonChoice programme to reduce its environmental footprint.
As a result, Baxter was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the 16th consecutive year.
