Baxter names new member of directorial board
Baxter has announced the appointment of Dr Stephen Oesterle to its board of directors, which now consists of 12 members.
Dr Oesterle is a consultant providing advisory services to private equity and operating companies in the healthcare industry. He previously served as senior vice-president for medicine and technology at the leading medical technology company Medtronic.
Other prior roles include that of associate professor of medicine and director of invasive cardiology services at the Harvard Medical School-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital, Stanford University Medical Center and Georgetown University Medical Center.
In his new role at Baxter, he will occupy a role on the company's public policy committee.
Jose Almeida, chairman and chief executive officer of Baxter, said: "His deep experience in leveraging technology to address global healthcare needs, coupled with his differentiated expertise as a former practicing physician, enhances our current board membership and supports our goals for patient-focused, innovation-driven growth."
The firm recently announced its financial results for 2016, reporting a two percent year-on-year increase in revenues.
