Baxter receives perfect score in new corporate equality index

Baxter has received a perfect score in the new 2017 Corporate Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign, recognising the company's commitment to LGBT rights.

The annual benchmarking survey and report is published to evaluate corporate policies and practices related to LGBT equality in the workplace among US-based companies, with Baxter receiving a score of 100 percent.

This reflects the company's efforts to ensure non-discrimination in the workplace, as well as its delivery of domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, diversity programmes and public engagement schemes with the LGBT community.

Jose Almeida, chairman and chief executive officer at Baxter, said: "We pride ourselves on maintaining a culture that recognises every individual's unique background and experiences that contribute to a successful organisation."

Baxter has also been recognised by Corporate Responsibility magazine as one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens and by Forbes as one of best employers in the US, as well as being included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

Thomson Reuters, Equal Opportunity Publications and Nikkei Woman have also recognised Baxter in recent report assessing workplace equality.
