Bayer Diabetes Care wins award for Contour USB meter

14th June 2010

Bayer Diabetes Care has won a design award for its blood glucose monitor system Contour USB.

The company was presented with a silver Medical Design Excellence Award in the in-vitro diagnostics category, with the independent judging panel praising its innovative design and user-friendly functionality.

Its “stylish” glossy black aesthetic and lightweight nature were also acclaimed by jury members.

Contour USB was designed as the first ever blood glucose monitor system which can be linked up directly to a computer using plug and play technology, allowing measurements to be easily uploaded and analysed without the need for cables.

It also includes Glucofacts Deluxe software, which presents data in a way that allows patients to easily identify trends and patterns in their readings.

Rick Kates, global senior director of digital health at Bayer Diabetes Care, said: “We’re gratified that the innovation and hard work that went into bringing this product to life has been so richly recognised.”
