Bayer HealthCare presents fellowships to haemophilia nurses

12th July 2010

Bayer HealthCare has underlined its commitment to improving global haemophilia care standards with the award of four fellowships to nursing professionals.

The company has provided support and sponsorship to the World Federation of Hemophilia’s (WFH’s) International Hemophilia Nursing Fellowship initiative, a scheme which provides education and training for nursing professionals.

This year’s fellowship scheme saw nurses from Laos, Venezuela, Algeria and China paired with professionals from other nations in order to gain skills which will benefit their native communities.

Dr Hansjoerg Duerr, head of the haematology global therapeutic area at Bayer HealthCare, expressed satisfaction with the success of the programme since its inauguration in 2005.

He said: “Bayer is a global sponsor of WFH and proud to support this WFH initiative in its fifth year as it continues to provide a unique opportunity for talented recipients to make a life-long difference.”

Last month, Bayer presented a new report designed to raise awareness of issues surrounding self-monitoring of blood glucose among diabetics, revealing that many feel self-conscious about their testing regimes.
