Bayer launches educational videos for pet owners
Bayer has produced a series of educational videos for dog owners as part of its Vision Matters campaign.
The videos are based on canine ocular health, with a particular focus on dry eye which is a common condition in dogs.
These were commissioned following a recent survey undertaken by Bayer Animal Health amongst dog owners and veterinary professionals, which highlighted the challenges vets face when it comes to client awareness of ocular health.
Nearly half of owners weren't aware that their pet could suffer from dry eye, even though it affects around one in every 22 dogs. In addition, 26 percent of owners never examine their dogs eyes to check for signs of infection or damage.
The videos series, entitled "The World Through Their Eyes", offers advice to dog owners on how to care for their dog’s eyesight, with the key message throughout encouraging owners to contact their vet with any concerns.
Hannah Watts, group product manager at Bayer, said: "The videos aim to increase awareness of the disease amongst dog owners in order to assist with early diagnosis, help improve treatment outcomes and aid compliance."
