Bayer launches free guide to keratoconjunctivitis sicca for vets

16th February 2016

Bayer has announced the launch of a new free guide providing vets with information on the common canine eye disease keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS).

Available via the online Bayer Vet Centre, the guide provides a concise overview of the condition, including its aetiology, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management, as well as covering commonly asked questions on managing refractory cases and when to refer.

The guide has been compiled with input from ophthalmologist Chris Dixon, who offers further guidance throughout the report.

KCS, or dry eye, affects around five percent of all dogs and up to 20 percent of predisposed breeds. Early diagnosis and treatment can have a significant impact on outcomes.

Last year, Bayer led an owner education campaign that reached nearly 40,000 dog owners with a series of educational eye health videos. Building on that success, the firm is targeting vets with relevant guidance in 2016.

Hannah Watts, group product manager at Bayer, said: "We hope the guide will be a useful resource for vets in practice, providing them with a quick reference point for all KCS cases."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801812730-ADNFCR
