Bayer names new head of consumer health
Bayer has announced the appointment of Heiko Schipper as the new head of its consumer health division, a role that will also see him join the company's board of management.
Mr Schipper will take up the role on March 1st 2018, joining the company from Nestle, where he serves as deputy executive vice-president and head of Nestle Nutrition. He has been with Nestle for more than 20 years.
The experienced business leader has held global responsibility for Nestle's infant nutrition division since 2013, helping the business unit achieve annual sales of around 8.8 billion euros (7.87 billion pounds).
Erica Mann, the current head of Bayer's consumer health division, has announced that she does not intend to extend her contract, which was scheduled to run until December 31st 2018. Because Bayer has already found a successor, she will hand over leadership of the consumer health business and leave the company when Mr Schipper joins.
Werner Wenning, chairman of the supervisory board of Bayer, said: "Heiko Schipper has extensive international experience in the consumer market. We are convinced that he will successfully lead Bayer's consumer health business."
