Bayer reaches settlement over diabetes marketing

26th November 2008

Bayer Healthcare is eager to move on following a settlement with the US department of justice, relating to an investigation into former marketing programmes.

The company co-operated with the department without acknowledging responsibility throughout the investigation into historical marketing programmes carried out between 1998 and 2003 by the Diabetes Care division, which concerned certain mail order customers.

Arthur Higgins, chairman of the board of management, said the issues had been satisfactorily resolved and recent years have seen "continuing positive change and growth" for Bayer.

"We are eager to move forward, focus on our current business and most importantly, continue to be a valued and respected healthcare provider," he commented.

Additionally, employees have received regular training to increase compliance and understanding, Bayer said.
