Bayer sells three consumer health assets to Recordati
Bayer has announced the sale of a handful of consumer health assets to fellow pharmaceutical company Recordati.
The deal covers three brands primarily aimed at the French market: Transipeg, TransipegLib and Colopeg. Transipeg and TransipegLib are macrogol-based laxatives for the treatment of symptomatic constipation, while Colopeg is a large-volume bowel cleanser used in preparation ahead of endoscopic explorations.
The 2016 net sales of these three products in France came to around EUR 10 million (8.85 million pounds), and have been purchased by Recordati as part of a broader strategy to reinforce its product portfolio in the key French market.
Andrea Recordati, chief executive officer and vice-chairman of Recordati, said: "We are progressively enhancing our presence in the area of gastroenterology and this line of products provides further product choice for doctors and patients in order to meet their specific needs."
Bayer recently bolstered its consumer health business with the appointment of Heiko Schipper, currently of Nestle, as the new head of the division, effective as of March 1st 2018.
