Bayer to present real-world data on Xarelto at ESC Congress

Bayer has announced plans to share new clinical and real-world data on its anticoagulant therapy Xarelto at this year's European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress.

The company will attend the conference in Rome from August 27th to 31st, where a total of 20 late-breaking, oral and poster presentations will be given on the performance of the oral Factor Xa inhibitor that feature information drawn from real-world studies.

Results from the real-world observational XAPASS study in everyday patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation in Japan will be presented during a late-breaking registries session, while real-world data from REVISIT-US will demonstrate how the drug performs compared to apixaban and dabigatran when assessed against warfarin.

The company said: "This is important as it better represents the diverse patient populations treated in everyday clinical practice, providing insights complementary to the phase III clinical trials."

Sub-analyses of phase III studies will offer additional clinical insights on Xarelto's performance in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, with one study specifically showing how it can help those who have undergone transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

The drug remains one of Bayer's most important drivers of commercial growth, alongside Eylea, Xofigo, Stivarga and Adempas.
