Bayer to reward good medical reporting

14th October 2008

Bayer Healthcare has announced it is the sponsor of the 2008 European Journalists’ Prize.

In a statement, the company outlines the type of articles that would be particularly likely to fare well in the competition.

The firm states “scrupulously researched articles” which deal with a topic from the spheres of health care or medicine, stand an “excellent chance” of taking home the prize.

In addition “articles written in a critical, comprehensible, yet objective manner” also have the opportunity to be successful, Bayer continues.

Journalists may submit the applications for the award to the business address of the Association of German Medical Journalists – or Verband Deutscher Medizinjournalisten – in accordance with the body’s statutes, the firm states.

They may also request the statutes directly from the address, which is Chemnitzer St. 21, D-70597 Stuttgart.

Concluding, the company explains that the information can also be viewed on its web press pages.

In other news, Bayer recently announced it had honoured what it described as the “outstanding” graduates from the chemical and biochemical engineering programmes from the Technical University of Dortmund.

“Awards went to biochemical engineer Kerstin Wohlgemuth and chemical engineer Katharina Koch, both of whom graduated with a grade point average of 1.3,” the company stated.
