Bayer welcomes 50 young environment diplomats

11th November 2009

Bayer has revealed that 50 young environmental advocates from 19 countries across four continents have paid a week-long visit to its base in Europe.

The firm invited the group in order for them to gain information on the measures it takes to maintain environmental protection and sustainable development.

Overall, 1,300 applicants applied for the 50 positions through environmental competitions organised by Bayer the company in their home countries.

Dr Wolfgang Plischke, the member of Bayer AG’s board of management responsible for innovation, technology and environment, commented: “We are delighted that in the years since its foundation, the programme has led to the formation of a network of young environmental protection activists who look to tackle global environmental challenges.”

This news comes as Bayer announced last month that its sales rose by 3.5 per cent to a total of 3.936 million euros (3.565 million pounds) during the third quarter of 2009.
