BD and UniteOR to deliver new operating room tracking system

11th May 2017

BD has announced a new collaboration with UniteOR to provide an integrated tracking solution for use by medical professionals in operating room settings.

The new unified solution will incorporate BD's Impress instrument management system and UniteOR's cloud-based surgical tray tracking and vendor management solution, offering greater visibility in surgical tracking and loaner tray management.

Under normal circumstances, vendor loaned trays can be delivered to hospitals without advance notice, meaning this new system will facilitate daily workloads in sterile processing departments.

Surgery case and procedure-specific information will be shared between the two platforms, including vendor tray requirements for scheduled surgical procedures, instruction for use documentation, and expected delivery times.

Arron Retterer, platform leader for the V Mueller product range at BD, said: "This new collaboration with UniteOR enables BD to offer a truly integrated approach for the complex challenges that hospitals and health systems face surrounding surgical tracking."

The companies will make their joint solution available worldwide in June 2017.
