BD announces departure of chief financial officer

15th October 2012

BD has announced that its chief financial officer (CFO) David Elkins will be leaving the company following the publication of its 2012 financial results next month.

Mr Elkins will depart the company on November 7th to take up the CFO role at Round Rock Research, with BD's current senior vice-president and controller Suketu Upadhyay to take over as interim CFO on this date.

The life science firm's board of directors will now commence a search for a permanent successor to Mr Elkins, who has been working with BD since 2008.

Vincent Forlenza, chairman, chief executive officer and president of BD, said: "The board and I are grateful for his contributions to BD and for his commitment to helping achieve a smooth transition. We wish him the best for the future."

The new interim CFO Mr Upadhyay joined BD in 2010 and previously served as CFO for its international operations, while his previous employers include AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson.

This announcement comes after the firm appointed microbiology expert Dr Paul Bourbeau as director of its diagnostic systems division's North American scientific affairs last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801469804-ADNFCR
