BD Diagnostics details Viper system improvements
BD Diagnostics has announced details of a number of improvements to its BD Viper System with XTR Technology.
The unit, which allows laboratory users to process automatic tests for urine and swab samples with less work and more reliable results, has been equipped with two new assays.
BD’s ProbeTec chlamydia trachomatis and neisseria gonorrhoea Qx Amplified DNA assays have been given FDA clearance for use with the Viper System.
It is hoped that by including these two improvements, more efficient and accurate diagnoses can be made in cases thought to be either chlamydia or gonorrhoea – two of the most common sexually transmitted infections around.
Gregory Meehan, vice-president of BD Diagnostic Systems and Molecular Diagnostics, said: "Running these advanced molecular assays offers laboratories total system integrity that helps assure reliability in their systems, reagents and results."
Earlier this month, BD’s Medical Ophthalmic Systems division announced a new fully synthetic liquid ocular bandage.
