BD forms new alliance with Singularity University

BD has announced a new collaboration with Singularity University to help create new growth opportunities for healthcare worldwide.

Singularity University is a benefit corporation focused on empowering leaders to leverage fast-growing technologies to tackle leading global challenges. Through the new partnership, BD will seek to leverage the organisation's expertise, innovation space, tools and inspiration.

Through this collaboration, BD will create a number of startup opportunities each year by establishing teams of associates to accelerate the creation of new, effective and safe solutions to key global health needs.

The overall focus will be on new ways to combine medical technology with IT to make medical devices smarter and improve clinical decision-making, as well as addressing topics under the theme of digital health.

Albert Lauritano, director of strategic technology partnerships at BD Technologies, said the collaboration will "drive BD innovation and growth by establishing global teams of BD associates to tackle critical healthcare needs in a very hands-on way, which is Singularity University's trademark".

The firm was presented with Frost and Sullivan's global company of the year award for clinical and research flow cytometry last year.
