BD highlights progress in 2013 Sustainability Report

6th June 2014

BD has published its Sustainability Report for 2013, highlighting its strategic priorities and encouraging performance on five key areas of sustainability.

During the year, the firm was able to address unmet health needs by committing to develop and launch the Odon Device, an innovative obstetrical instrument for assisting the delivery of newborns during troublesome labour. It will be offered cheaply in developing countries.

It also made efforts to ensure good governance and ethics through its Doing What is Right compliance training and anti-corruption program Project Compass, while safeguarding product safety and performance in various ways.

Finally, the firm was able to reach 80 percent of its 2015 sustainability targets through projects such as its wind energy project in Nebraska and created a new leadership standard and programmes to develop skills and identify talent at BD.

Vincent Forlenza, chairman, chief executive officer and president of BD, said: "I am proud of our accomplishments at BD and look forward to continuing to play an active role in advancing sustainable solutions for our industry and stakeholders."

The company is currently on track to meet its business goals for the 2014 fiscal year after achieving strong growth during the first six months.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801726469-ADNFCR
