BD highlights recent progress in Sustainability Report for 2016
BD has announced the publication of its Sustainability Report for 2016, a year in which it made significant progress towards its 2020 sustainability goals.
On the innovation front, the firm introduced a number of new medication management, lab automation and disease management offerings, leading to BD being named a Thomson Reuters top 100 global innovator and added to the CNBC IQ100 Index.
It has also made progress in improving access to care services, with its BD-PEPFAR Labs for Life partnership helping to strengthen laboratories across India, Uganda, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Kenya, and new collaborations formed with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In terms of its green performance, BD generated 43 percent of total energy from renewable sources, representing a significant step towards reaching its 2020 goal of 50 percent, while it has also reduced water consumption globally by 34 percent.
Additionally, BD set goals to improve inclusion and diversity at all levels of the organisation, while continuing to support not-for-profit and educational organisations around the world through the donation of more than $18 million (13.93 million pounds) in cash, products and expertise.
