BD launches flow cytometer for cell sorting

24th February 2010

BD has released a new flow cytometry system which is designed to make it easier for life science researchers to conduct multicolour experiments involving cell sorting.

The new BD FACSAria III cell sorting system utilises a number of innovations to deliver more precise and flexible performance, including an advanced optical system which maximises its signal detection and sensitivity when dealing with a multicolour assay.

It will also feature a gel coupled cuvette in the flow cell designed to focus the system’s lasers on the sample stream, as well as being backwards-compatible with previous BD FACSAria systems.

James Glasscock, president of BD Biosciences’ cell analysis division, stated that the new unit represents an efficient, affordable and expandable solution for research professionals.

He added: “BD Biosciences’ goal is to expand the range of applications that can benefit from [flow cytometry] by building innovative, powerful tools that are easier to use and more accessible.”

Earlier this month, BD launched the Microtainer MAP Microtube, a device designed to provide safer and more accurate haematology testing in fragile patients.
