BD launches new FACSMelody cell sorting system
BD has announced the launch of its new FACSMelody cell sorting system, designed for benchtop use.
With the aim of making flow cytometry easier and more affordable, the device has been optimised for ease of use and installation and providing a high level of sensitivity, resolution and sort purity.
This makes it possible for users to identify and isolate target cells for up to nine colours, thus facilitating the identification of dim or rare subpopulations. The software guides researchers throughout the entire cell sorting process using advanced automation technology.
With FACSMelody, it is possible to simultaneously isolate two cell populations into separate tubes or deposit single or multiple target cells into 96 or 384-well plates. The system will be offered in six different configurations to best meet application needs.
The simple operation of the BD FACSMelody is in line with other recently-launched BD flow cytometers, such as the BD Accuri C6 Plus and BD FACSCelesta systems.
Claude Dartiguelongue, worldwide president of biosciences for BD, said: "The BD FACSMelody system not only simplifies the entire operational process, but also has been designed to maximise cell population resolution and sort purity."
