BD UK opens two new centres for HIV/AIDS research
BD UK has announced the launch of two new centres designed to boost its research and development into the treatment of HIV and AIDS.
Opening in the The Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital and Research Center (BMMH), in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the facilities constitute an Immune System Monitoring Laboratory and an Occupational Safety Centre for Health Workers.
According to the group, the research centre will train in excess of 300 clinicians, while the new laboratory will improve the monitoring and treatment of individuals living with the HIV and AIDS.
Dikembe Mutombo, National Basketball Association league player and founder the medical hub, stated that the centres are "an important milestone in improving the quality of life for those who live with HIV and AIDS and in training new healthcare workers to help prevent the spread of disease".
In other BD news, the firm’s biosciences division launched a kaleidoscope reagent and dye expansion initiative and marked the occasion with the issue of around 200 new fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies for flow cytometry.
