BDA receives clarification on financial viability

15th February 2018

The British Dental Association (BDA) has received clarification from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on its request for financial viability statements from dental practitioners across the UK.

Announced in the CQC's monthly bulletin in January, the BDA contacted the body to clear up confusion as to which practitioners would be affected.

The CQC stated: "If a provider has a contract to provide NHS services, we will take that as assurance of financial viability for the purposes of our registration assessment. We will not require details of any breakdown of the proportion of public/private work."

It added that all new practitioners will be expected to provide financial viability assurances when submitting a new registration application.
